42 Lazy High-Protein Meals

Half the struggle of being an adult is just properly feeding yourself.

Especially if you have nutrition goals like a protein target.

You can easily spend half the day in the kitchen if you’re preparing three meals fresh every day.

While I love cooking, there’s a time and a place for a good lazy meal and I have made it my mission to bring lots of recipes like this to VLH Health.

In fact, whenever I cook, it’s always my goal to make the most delicious food for the least amount of effort (and dishes!)

So I’ve rounded up my 42 favorite lazy high-protein meals from rotisserie chicken salad to no-cook dense bean salads and low-effort air fryer bowls.

The list starts with recipes more commonly eaten for lunch, with more dinner recipes toward the end. But you make the rules! Sometimes tuna salad is a great lazy dinner. No judgement here.

FAQ

What makes these meals lazy?

I am the queen of lazy cooking. I’m always looking for low-effort swaps, dish saving hacks, and non-fussy steps. So you’ll find that reflected in each of these recipes. Every lazy meal on this list is either no cook, one pan, or one pot.

What’s the best way to hit your protein goals without cooking?

There are some really clever shortcuts that will help you stay high protein without spending hours in the kirchen. Rotisserie chicken, canned beans, greek yogurt instead of mayo, and adding simple things like cottage cheese and edamame are some of my favorite shortcuts.

Are these recipes designed for lunch or dinner?

You decide! The first half of the list has more recipes that are traditionally eaten for lunch and the end of the list has more dinners. But you make your own rules!

Which recipes are best for meal prep?

A lot of the no-cook salads, like chicken salads and bean salads, are specifically designed for meal prep. But if you batch prep any of the recipes and store them correctly, they can work great for meal prep. Some of my favorites are the ground beef taco bowl and the pasta salads.

And there you have it. 42 lazy high-protein meals that take hardly any effort or cleanup for when you really can’t be bothered to cook.

If you found any of these ideas helpful, save this post for later. Or pick two to three to add to your rotation this week and let me know how they turn out.

Hearing what you think of my recipes makes my day.

Enjoy,
