I don’t know what’s going on in the world, but somehow yogurt bowls are trending right now.
Whichever influencer made yogurt bowls hot again, kudos to them.
Personally, I’m a little sick of the classic yogurt bowl, so I’m taking a different approach with my savory greek yogurt breakfast bowl.
It starts with a base of greek yogurt, then gets topped with blistered cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, and eggs (your way). To finish: everything bagel seasoning, a drizzle of chili oil or hot honey, and fresh herbs. And on the side, a crusty piece of sourdough to scoop it all up with.
If you’ve never thought about a savory yogurt breakfast bowl, this might sound a bit weird at first. But you’re going to have to trust me. It’s a pretty incredible pairing.
Why You’ll Love It
- High protein. With 34 grams of protein per serving, this is the kind of breakfast that’s going to keep you full and energized all morning long.
- Savory. If you’re a little burnt out on sweet breakfast, this will be a new go-to. It’s creamy, fresh, and a little bit spicy.
- Ready in 15 minutes. Blister the tomatoes, cook your eggs, and build your bowl. That’s it.
- Make-ahead friendly. Prep a few components ahead and it takes just a couple of minutes to assemble on the spot.
- Totally customizable. Swap the yogurt for cottage cheese, use different veggies, cook the eggs your way, and top with whatever you love.
- Real-food ingredients. Nothing with an ingredients label, no protein powders, nothing weird here. Just greek yogurt, eggs, veggies, and a couple of toppings.

Key Ingredients
These savory greek yogurt breakfast bowls come together with just a handful of simple ingredients. You probably already have most of them in your fridge.
- Greek yogurt. This is the creamy base of this savory breakfast bowl and where most of the protein comes from. I like to use a thick, strained, plain greek yogurt. Full-fat, low-fat, and non-fat all work here.
- Eggs. Two eggs per serving, cooked your way. I like soft-boiled with a jammy yolk, but you can soft-scramble or even poach them.
- Cherry tomatoes. I like to buy the ones on the vine and blister them until the skins burst and they get a little soft. That warm bite against the cold yogurt is the perfect contrast.
- Cucumber. I like to finely dice a bit of cucumber for crunch and a cooling bite. Persian or mini cucumbers are great here since they’re a little sweeter and milder.
- Toppings. Feel free to go wild here. My toppings of choice are everything bagel seasoning, a drizzle of chili oil or hot honey, and some fresh herbs like dill, chives, or parsley.
- Sourdough. A small, crusty slice of sourdough on the side is perfect for scooping everything up.
How To Make It
The savory greek yogurt breakfast bowl could not be simpler to make. I’ve given you a couple of different cooking methods so you can use whatever you have on hand.
- Blister the tomatoes. Toss your cherry tomatoes with some olive oil and a pinch of salt, then pick your method: pan-fry, air fry, or roast in the oven. You want them soft with the skins blistered and a few of them bursting.
- Cook your eggs. The choice is yours again: soft-scrambled, soft-boiled, or even poached. I like to throw mine in the air fryer with the tomatoes for 8 to 9 minutes for that perfect jammy yolk.
- Assemble. Spoon your greek yogurt into a wide, shallow bowl, then top with the tomatoes, eggs, and diced cucumber. Finish with everything bagel seasoning, a drizzle of chili oil or hot honey, and a handful of fresh herbs. Serve with a slice of toasted sourdough, the perfect vehicle for scooping everything up.

Victoria’s Tips
Here are a few small things that make all the difference between a good savory yogurt bowl and one you’ll crave again and again.
- Use a thick, high-quality yogurt. A strained, thick greek yogurt or labneh is the perfect option here. It’s super creamy and flavorful, and substantial enough to be a good base for all the toppings.
- Season the base. Plain greek yogurt works great here, but if you want to take it to the next level, add a little grated garlic, a pinch of salt, and a small drizzle of olive oil. Mix until smooth, then spoon into your bowl and top.
- Watch your egg timer. If you’re going for the perfect jammy egg, seven minutes is your sweet spot when boiling. Air fryers vary a bit, but in mine, eight minutes gets me the same result.
- Don’t be shy with toppings. The greek yogurt base and the veggies need a bit of extra oomph to bring everything together, which is why I love everything bagel seasoning, chili oil, and some fresh dill. But you can customize this to whatever you love: hot sauce, chili flakes, a drizzle of olive oil. The options are limitless.

Storage & Meal Prep
This bowl is best prepared fresh, but you can prep a couple of the components if you want to make things faster throughout the week. Batch cook your tomatoes keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 days, and soft-boiled eggs keep for 3 days unpeeled.
With those two components prepped, it’s really just a 2-minute assembly: scoop the yogurt, warm up the tomatoes, peel and halve the egg, then assemble.
FAQ
A thick, strained, plain greek yogurt, or even labneh, works best. It’s high in protein, super creamy, and holds its shape. Avoid anything that’s sweetened or too thin.
Totally! Just swap the greek yogurt for a thick, unsweetened coconut- or almond-based yogurt. You’ll lose some of the protein, so consider adding an extra egg or even some smoked salmon.
The bowl itself is naturally gluten-free. Just swap the sourdough for your favorite gluten-free bread or skip the toast altogether, and double-check your seasonings, too.
You can blister a big batch of tomatoes and soft-boil your eggs ahead of time. In the mornings, all you have to do is rewarm the tomatoes and add your cucumber, eggs, and toppings. It all comes together in about two minutes.

Ingredients
Instructions
- Toss 1 cup cherry tomatoes on the vine with 2 tsp olive oil and a pinch of salt. Then cook using one of these three methods:Pan-fry (fastest, about 6 minutes). Heat the tomatoes in a small nonstick skillet over medium-high. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally, until the skins blister and a few burst. Air fryer (about 8 minutes). Air fry at 380°F for 8 to 9 minutes, until softened and charred at the edges. Oven (about 18 minutes, best for batch cooking). Roast at 400°F for 15 to 18 minutes, until slumped and jammy.

- Soft-boiled, jammy (7 minutes). Bring a small pot of water to a gentle boil. Lower 4 large eggs in with a slotted spoon and set a timer for exactly 7 minutes. Transfer to an ice bath for 1 minute, then peel and slice in half. Sprinkle the cut sides with a pinch of salt. Soft-scrambled (about 2 minutes). Whisk 4 large eggs with a pinch of salt. Melt 1 tsp salted butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, pour in the eggs, and push them gently with a silicone spatula for about 2 minutes, until soft and just set. Pull them off the heat right before they look fully done.

- Divide 1½ cup thick plain greek yogurt between two wide shallow bowls and spread it into a swoop. Arrange the warm blistered tomatoes, the eggs, and diced cucumber (in their own sections around the yogurt.

- Drizzle with 2 tsp chili crisp or hot honey, then sprinkle on everything bagel seasoning and a scatter of fresh herbs. Serve with 2 slices sourdough bread (toasted) on the side.

Notes
- Meal prep. Pre-boil your eggs and roast a full sheet pan of cherry tomatoes on the weekend. Assemble each day just before enjoying.
- Use thick yogurt. A strained, thick greek yogurt (or labneh) holds its shape and stays creamy against the warm eggs and tomatoes. Thin yogurt waters down the bowl.
- Make it spicier. Hot honey adds a sweet-heat note, or add a spoonful of chili crisp under the eggs.
- Make it gluten-free. Swap the sourdough for your favorite gluten-free bread, or skip the toast for a lower-carb bowl.
