17 Easy Air Fryer Dinner Ideas (High-Protein & Ready in 30)

I was all SUUUUPER late to the air fryer trend. But I have to admit that after finally buying one, I’ve used it pretty much every day since.

I have the Ninja Crispi, and I couldn’t recommend it more. It’s the right size for two people, does a great job getting things crispy, and everything goes in the dishwasher, which is kind of like a small miracle.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been working on all kinds of healthy air fryer recipes. Here I am rounding them up into 17 easy air fryer dinner ideas. They’re all high protein and can be made in under 30 minutes.

And beyond that, I’ve really done my best to make sure these recipes can be simplified where possible. Garlic powder instead of fresh garlic, mixing things in one bowl instead of two, swapping fresh-cooked rice for microwave rice to save the cleanup.

I’ve taken it as my personal responsibility to be your no-fuss weeknight dinner wingwoman. So you can be sure each of these recipes really is easy.

But without sacrificing flavor. Because I’m not the kind of girl who can work hard all day, get my workout in, drink my water, and then cap it off with a boring, bland dinner. Um, no thank you.

1. Gochujang Crispy Air Fryer Tofu Bowl

Alright, even if you’re not a tofu person, you’re gonna have to trust me on this one. This Korean-inspired crispy gochujang tofu bowl is unbelievable.

You toss cubed tofu in cornstarch, air fry until super crispy, then coat it all in a sticky, spicy gochujang glaze. Throw it into a bowl with rice, pickled cucumbers, carrots, edamame, and kimchi (totally optional, leave it out if it’s not your thing).

My husband isn’t a tofu eater and he said this was literally one of my best recipes. About 500 calories and 30 grams of protein per serving, and they make great meal prep too.

2. Air Fryer Mediterranean Cod in Parchment Paper

This is maybe a little bit controversial, but I was totally a Goop girl. When they first started publishing recipes, I was making so many of them, and that’s where I learned about this technique of cooking fish in parchment paper.

So I was curious if you could make it work in the air fryer too, and I think it’s even better.

In this recipe, you wrap up some cod with Mediterranean veggies in parchment paper, then air fry it for less than 15 minutes. You get this super tender, flaky cod, which I pair with an herby couscous. Super easy, super healthy, and honestly really tasty.

3. Air Fryer Salmon Bowls with Bang Bang Sauce

My college roommate first introduced me to bang bang sauce, and it’s been a staple for me ever since. So I developed this whole air fryer bowl around it.

It starts with a bed of rice. You can make your own or use microwave rice. Then you top it with crispy, spicy salmon cubes, edamame, pickled cucumber, and shredded carrots. And then you absolutely drown it all in a healthier bang bang sauce.

Again, about 500 calories per serving and a whopping 43 grams of protein.

4. Greek Chicken Tzatziki Bowls

Whenever I think about making an easy, healthy dinner, greek salad is one of the first things that pops into my mind. So this bowl was completely built around that idea.

You season up a chicken breast and then, while it air fries, you make a quick tzatziki and greek salad, which are both crazy flavorful.

And you can leave it at that if you want to keep things lower carb, or pair it with some pita or even some rice.

5. Hot Honey Chicken Bowl (Sweetgreen Copycat)

I love Sweetgreen, and I hate the price of Sweetgreen. So this copycat recipe aims to get as close to their hot honey chicken bowl as possible, but costs a fraction of the price.

It starts with a bed of golden quinoa, cubed air-fried sweet potatoes, and a simple cabbage slaw. Then I make a hot honey mustard dressing that becomes the marinade for the chicken and a dipping sauce.

I use the air fryer to cook the chicken, and I actually like to leave the thighs whole instead of cutting them up, but that’s totally up to you.

6. Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Meatball Bowls

Okay, I have to admit that meatballs are not the most low-effort dinner. But you can still pull this air fryer buffalo chicken meatball bowl together in under 30 minutes, and honestly, the meatballs are insane.

The base of the meatballs is super simple then you roll them up and throw them in the air fryer. While they cook, you warm up your rice, make a quick cabbage slaw, cut up some celery and carrots, and whip up a homemade high-protein ranch. I’m a blue cheese girl, so you better believe I’m throwing some blue cheese crumbles on there too.

My sister made this one and told me it’ll be on weekly rotation in her house.

7. Air Fryer Fish Taco Bowl with Mango Salsa

If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s that I LOOOVE tacos. And while I could probably convince myself, and maybe you too, that tacos are healthy, turning them into a bowl is an easier way to include more protein and veggies, with the tortillas swapped for a whole grain like rice.

So this is basically a fish taco in a bowl, with a ton of mango salsa and a high-protein chipotle crema drizzled over the top.

8. High-Protein Chicken Caesar Wrap

For me, the only thing better than a classic caesar is a classic caesar wrap. So I turned it into a high-protein version that you’d actually want to eat every day of the week.

The chicken and the croutons get cooked in the air fryer. And while they do their thing, you whip up a high-protein ranch, chop your salad ingredients, and toss it all together.

Then you just wrap things up in a high-protein tortilla, and you’ve got an easy weeknight dinner that can double as meal prep too.

9. Air Fryer Honey Mustard Chicken Bowl

Call me a basic b, but honey mustard is an elite condiment. This air fryer honey mustard chicken bowl is one of the simplest on this list, but don’t be fooled: it’s also one of the best.

Chicken thighs get tossed in a homemade honey mustard that you can whip up in like one minute. Then you throw some garlicky green beans on the bottom of the air fryer and the chicken thighs on top. While that cooks, just warm up your favorite grain. I use microwave quinoa. And that’s it.

That’s the whole bowl, and it’s freaking good.

10. Air Fryer Honey Harissa Salmon Bowl

This air fryer honey harissa salmon bowl is for when I’m feeling extra healthy. This is the one I’d make after I’ve watched a few too many clean girl TikToks.

You toss some salmon fillets in a honey harissa glaze, which is basically just honey and harissa. Then air fry it on top of a bunch of Mediterranean veggies and chickpeas. You can serve it just like that, or add some couscous or whatever grains you like on the side. I like a little crumble of feta as well.

11. Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Bowl

So this isn’t the first buffalo chicken recipe on this list, but I promise you they’ve both earned their spot.

If tonight isn’t the night you feel like rolling meatballs, this is the one for you. It’s basically a super lightly breaded cubed chicken breast that gets tossed in buffalo sauce. Served with a really fresh apple and celery slaw, rice if you want it, and a drizzle of homemade high-protein ranch.

It’s like a grown-up, healthier version of buffalo wings.

12. Air Fryer Chicken Tikka Bowl

This air fryer chicken tikka bowl is for the nights you feel like ordering Indian takeaway but don’t feel like spending $50 or consuming 1,000 calories.

You marinate your chicken in yogurt and a chicken tikka spice blend. Then, while it air fries, you make a simple Indian-inspired salad and a cooling yogurt mint sauce. Throw it all in a bowl with some rice, and you’ve got all the flavors you love for under 500 calories and 50 grams of protein.

13. Air Fryer Coconut Shrimp Bowls

If you’re craving a tropical vacation but it’s not in the cards for you right now, this air fryer coconut shrimp bowl is the one.

You coat the shrimp in shredded unsweetened coconut, then air fry them until super crispy. Meanwhile, you make a homemade sweet chili sauce that’s super easy and way tastier than store-bought. Then throw together a really simple pineapple cucumber salad and serve it with some microwave rice.

Vacation on a plate if you ask me.

14. Sticky Miso Glazed Salmon Bowl

While I try not to pick favorites with my recipes, the sticky miso-glazed salmon bowl is one I’ve returned to more times than I could count.

I developed the recipe based on a couple of my favorite things: the famous Nobu miso marinade, which I’ve applied to salmon instead of black cod here, and Japanese miso eggplant.

To make it, you air fry the eggplant, then add the miso-glazed salmon cubes on top. The miso sauce drips onto the eggplant, so both get super caramelized and almost candied in the air fryer. Then you serve it up with some rice, cucumber, and avocado for a complete dinner.

15. Air Fryer Chicken Shawarma Bowls

One of my guilty pleasures is ordering chicken shawarma takeaway. So when I developed this recipe, it was really all about creating something easier and just as good, so I never had an excuse to order it again.

It starts with chicken marinated in greek yogurt and shawarma spices that gets air-fried until crispy, then thinly sliced to replicate shawarma texture. While the chicken cooks, you warm up your rice, make a tangy cabbage slaw, and a greek yogurt garlic sauce that mimics toum but is way easier to make.

Ready in 30 minutes with 56 grams of protein per serving.

16. High-Protein Sesame Crusted Salmon Bowl

If you’re looking for a super healthy dinner, this is your girl. It’s a sesame-crusted salmon fillet paired with soy-glazed air-fried bok choy, all on a bed of brown rice with some edamame and thinly sliced green onions.

You’ve got protein, fiber, healthy fats, and lots of flavor here. If you feel like your body needs a bit of a reset, this is a go-to.

17. Air Fryer Copycat Chipotle Burrito Bowl

I am a recovering Chipotle addict, and this bowl is the only reason why the word ‘recovering’ is in there.

This is my dupe of the famous Chipotle chicken bowl. The Chipotle-marinated chicken tastes just like the original and cooks super fast in the air fryer. And the veggies even cook at the same time. Then you add cilantro-lime rice, which you can make using microwave rice, plus black beans and a bit of guac.

And if you want to go all in, you could add shredded cheese or sour cream as well.

FAQ

Which air fryer do you recommend?

While I’ve only tried one, I’m obsessed with my Ninja Crispi. I did my research beforehand and saw that it was rated one of the best air fryers on the market. I’m really pleased with how well it gets things crispy and that I can throw everything in the dishwasher. I also like that it’s made of glass with minimal non-stick components and no plastic on the inside.

What’s the easiest air fryer dinner for beginners?

If you’re new to the air fryer, I recommend getting started with the Air Fryer Honey Mustard Chicken Bowl or the Air Fryer Chicken Tikka Bowl. They’re some of the lowest-effort recipes on the list and are pretty hard to mess up.

How long do these easy air fryer dinners keep in the fridge?

Most hold up for 3 to 4 days in an airtight container, a little less for seafood. I like to store things separately so they don’t get soggy.

Can I make these without an air fryer?

Totally, most of the recipes have non-air fryer instructions included. But you can also use an oven, following similar temperatures and cook times, plus 5 minutes for most of the meals. You won’t get the same crispy result, but it’ll still be delicious. My Healthy Sheet Pan Dinner Roundup is also a great starting point (no air fryer required).

Final Thoughts

While I hate to admit it, the air fryer was a kitchen appliance that I did actually need. As you can tell from this roundup, I’ve been a little obsessed since I got my Ninja Crispi.

What I love about it is that you can throw in some veggies and protein at the same time. And while those cook, you’ve got about 15 minutes to prep everything else, like a little side salad, some microwave or fresh-cooked rice, and a healthy sauce.

Then, when you’re done eating, just throw everything in the dishwasher, and you don’t even have to fight with your partner over who’s on cleaning duty.

If you make any of these recipes, please drop me a comment and let me know what you thought. I read and reply to every single review and comment.

Enjoy,
